What are KNPs

and why do they matter?

Key Names and Phrases (KNPs) are names, terms and phrases that need to remain consistent throughout a localisation project. They may include character names, place names, fictional terms, recurring expressions and other terminology that appears across episodes or different types of content.

A KNP document provides a shared reference for these terms, helping translators, editors, reviewers and other localisation professionals maintain consistency across a project.

In this course, you'll learn what belongs in a KNP document, how to create and use one, and how to manage KNPs in Closed Caption Creator.
